The Cost and Financing of Dental Implants

Act Quickly – A Missing Tooth May Damage Surrounding Teeth

Here at the practice of Dr. K. Ashraf, we understand that one of the main reasons why some patients fail to restore their missing teeth is because of the costs associated with teeth restoration treatments. It is for this reason that we accept many different payment methods for treatment with dental implants, and we even offer financing options through a third party.

At our Waterloo, ON area practice, we believe in an implant process that is completely streamlined for the benefit of the patient. From the first consultation to the final payment, we work to ensure that the process is as comfortable and understandable as possible. We encourage you to read on to learn more about the cost of dental implants.

How Much Do Implants Cost?

The cost of your dental implant treatment is determined by looking at a variety of different factors. The factor that affects the cost of your treatment the most is how many implants you need. Dental implants are made up of three pieces, the implant fixture, the abutment, and the porcelain crown. Each of these pieces is customized in order to perfectly fit your oral anatomy. Aside from the implant fixture, various materials can be chosen between to create your implant’s abutment and the replacement crown. The cost of these two pieces can vary depending on which material you choose to go with.

The cost of your treatment may also rise depending on whether or not you need a supplementary procedure and the extent of the damage to your oral structure that needs to be treated by that procedure before you can move forward with the implant procedure.

On average, the cost of treatment with dental implants is between $1,500 and $5,000 per implant. During your consultation, Dr. K. Ashraf will perform an examination of your oral health, which will allow him to make a better estimate of how much your implant treatment will cost.

What Happens If You Fail to Treat Missing Teeth?

It is very important that our patients with missing teeth work to restore those teeth as quickly as possible. The reason for this is the fact that missing teeth can actually compromise your oral health. For instance, missing teeth can actually weaken your jawbone, as it will no longer be receiving the exercise it needs to stay healthy. Jawbone deterioration can have many effects on you body, such as weakening your bite and even affecting your facial appearance. It is also possible that you will develop tooth decay or gum disease because of your missing tooth.

It may seem more economical to simply go without restoring your missing teeth. However, failing to do so can leave you with a dangerous oral condition that can end up costing you even more to treat than you would have paid had you simply restored your missing tooth.

Dentalcard – iFinance Canada

For our patients who are looking for help with covering the costs associated with their dental implant treatment, we are happy to provide financing through Dentalcard. Dentalcard is a special financing service offered by iFinance Canada that is used to cover your dental treatment. We prefer Dentalcard to other financing providers because it allows our patients to choose the time frame in which they would like to pay back their loan when they apply for the service. This means you can decide if you would like to pay off your loan in anywhere from 6 months to 6 years. Dentalcard will also take care of everything for you. Once they receive your agreement signature, they will pay us directly, meaning you won’t have to worry about being the middleman. Your monthly payment is then taken directly from your chequing account, which ensures that you’ll never have to worry about paying a bill in time.

During this difficult time, we are trying to do our part during the COVID-19 crisis. We are continuing to see patients with dentofacial emergencies. This means as one of the few practices remaining open during this pandemic, we are treating patients with emergencies from our fellow dental colleagues, in the Waterloo and Wellington regions (Waterloo-Kitchener-Cambridge and Guelph and surrounding townships)

We hope to assist and help as many people as we can. We also hope this will reduce the number of patients that are visiting hospitals that can be treated by us, thus freeing up time and room for the hospitals and slowing the spread of this virus.

Some additional steps our practice has taken to slow down the spread of the virus and "flatten the curve" are:
- Sanitation of common areas such as the front entry doors and the waiting room in between every patient
- Appointments are spread out so that the waiting area only has one patient at a time
- All front desk staff are wearing masks
- State of the art air purifiers (Surgically Clean Air Units x5 in total)
- Patients receive gloves upon entering the clinic

And of course we have all required PPE protocol set as a standard by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons and the Province of Ontario.

During this time we all need to help each other and do our part, only then can we pull through this quicker and return to a more happy, thankful and prosperous society.

Wishing you all the best of health,
From our family to yours.
