When it comes to dental implants, there are many great reasons for why you should consider treatment with them. Whether you are restoring missing teeth or replacing a lesser restoration performed with another form of treatment, dental implants can drastically improve your quality of life. Here at the practice of Dr. K. Ashraf, we believe that there are three top reasons that best exemplify what it is about dental implants that has us recommending the treatment to our many Waterloo, ON area patients. We encourage you to read on to learn exactly what benefits you can expect to enjoy with your new implant supported replacement teeth.
Every piece of a dental implant is customized to fit your oral anatomy. First, we make sure that your implant fixture will fit perfectly in the empty spot left behind by your missing tooth. This allows us to ensure that your replacement teeth will fit comfortably among your remaining natural teeth. We then top them with natural-looking replacement crowns. What sets our crowns apart from other practices is the fact that we custom make them for every patient based on scans we take of their remaining natural teeth. By taking this extra step, we can ensure that our patients’ replacement teeth fit in perfectly among their natural teeth. In fact, our crowns look so good that many of our patients can’t tell them apart from their natural teeth once they are in place.
Dental implants provide better quality restorations because they are permanently integrated into your oral anatomy by the process of osseointegration. Thanks to this process your implant becomes a natural piece of your oral anatomy. In fact, your body cannot even tell the difference between your artificial and natural teeth. Because your implants are fused to your jawbone, they are the only treatment for missing teeth that is able to prevent jawbone deterioration. When we lose a tooth, we are also losing a vital source of the exercise needed to keep our jawbone healthy and strong. Implants take the place of your missing tooth roots, allowing your crowns to provide the exercise needed to maintain the health of your jawbone.
One of the main problems with other teeth restoration that our prospective patients come to us about is the fact that these treatments do not provide a very strong bite. This can, unfortunately, prevent patients from enjoying all of the foods they love. Dental implants, on the other hand, perfectly simulate natural teeth and are able to provide the same amount of bite strength.
Listed above are just a few of the many benefits you can expect to experience with your new dental implants. However, in order for us to begin the dental implant process for you, you must first attend a consultation with Dr. K. Ashraf. During your consultation, the doctor will be happy to sum up the many different benefits you can expect from your treatment. Please, contact us today and begin the process to a better smile.
During this difficult time, we are trying to do our part during the COVID-19 crisis. We are continuing to see patients with dentofacial emergencies. This means as one of the few practices remaining open during this pandemic, we are treating patients with emergencies from our fellow dental colleagues, in the Waterloo and Wellington regions (Waterloo-Kitchener-Cambridge and Guelph and surrounding townships)
We hope to assist and help as many people as we can. We also hope this will reduce the number of patients that are visiting hospitals that can be treated by us, thus freeing up time and room for the hospitals and slowing the spread of this virus.
Some additional steps our practice has taken to slow down the spread of the virus and "flatten the curve" are:
- Sanitation of common areas such as the front entry doors and the waiting room in between every patient
- Appointments are spread out so that the waiting area only has one patient at a time
- All front desk staff are wearing masks
- State of the art air purifiers (Surgically Clean Air Units x5 in total)
- Patients receive gloves upon entering the clinic
And of course we have all required PPE protocol set as a standard by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons and the Province of Ontario.
During this time we all need to help each other and do our part, only then can we pull through this quicker and return to a more happy, thankful and prosperous society.
Wishing you all the best of health,
From our family to yours.
